Paul Hauser

Head of School

Teaches

3rd/4th grade and Upper School science

Paul Hauser came to education by way of the laboratory. He holds a B.S. in Biology from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, where his research explored the intersection of cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer's. He traded the lab for the classroom for the simple reason that he wanted to teach young people to think like scientists, to ask real questions and chase them with equal parts passion and skill. He taught high school science at San Francisco University High School, then joined The Nueva School in San Mateo, where he co-led the research program and taught biology, chemistry, and global health. At Knox, Paul leads a school built around the conviction that has shaped his whole career: connection comes first, and inquiry follows. Children do their most ambitious work when the adults around them actually know them. His job is to make that the ordinary experience at Knox rather than the lucky exception.

Come and see

We think hard about every family who comes through. A child who needs more from school deserves to find the place that can give it to them.
